Dancer Update

At the Rocky Mountain Competition last weekend – Denis and Iveta (one of our Amateur competitive couples) placed second in the Amateur Adult Championship and placed first in the All in Open Pre-Champ and Up Latin competitions.

This couple are well on their way to becoming our next Canadian Champions and it is in part to your donations at the GALA. They work and practice extremely hard all year round but without your support they would not be able to attend the competitions. THANK YOU for your previous and ongoing support of them!

This year you will also get to see some of our school dance program students perform at the GALA. They will perform for you during your dinner and they are very excited to strut their stuff for you. The students range from kindergarten to Grade 6 and will have been participating in the school program for 4 weeks at the time of the GALA. Please come out to cheer them on in their dancing!

2018 Gala is coming and the STARS have started their lessons!

It seems like only a few short weeks ago we were enjoying the talents of the 2017 STARS performances. But already our 2018 STARS are training and gearing up to provide you with a fabulous show.

Each year at the end of the night of the GALA I wonder how will the next year’s STARS compete with the show we just enjoyed?

That is until the lessons start. The dance partners have spent the whole year planning and preparing for their next STAR, scanning choreography videos, watching and participating in dance shows and inventing a few moves of their own.

Their love of all things dance knows no bounds when they are able to showcase their STARS. I hope you will be able to join us for what will be a very engaging and fun evening.

What’s been happening?

This year we have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with the Calgary Multicultural Orchestra (an IAACC program). 100% of the proceeds will support Young Calgary Dancers vying for a place on the podium at the 2018 Canadian Ballroom Dance Finals and provide the members of the Multicultural Orchestra (ages 6-17) who would not otherwise be able to be part of an Orchestra with the opportunity to expand their love of music.
The 6th Annual Dancing with the STARS Gala is very special year. Our new line up of STARS is very impressive and they cant wait to provide you with a great show. Each of our STARS are learning a new dance for your entertainment. All they need is you – their cheering section!!!

  • Roxanne “Sexy Samba” McCaig
  • Graham “Romantic Rumba” Sucha
  • Elizabeth “Tantalizing Tango” Burke-Gaffney
  • Robbie “The Bull Fighter” Schuett

To help our students achieve some of their dancing goals this year and to help the Multicultural Orchestra be able to provide instruments and instruction time I ask you to please support the groups by purchasing tickets or sponsorship to the GALA, sending the link to all your friends, family and associates and come cheer on your favorite STARS!
See you on November 29th!
